SUMMARY:nMEP Wien 2017
DESCRIPTION:Letter from the presidentsHonorable Delegates\, Distinguished fellow Presidents\,\nVenerable Committee Chairs and Student Media Officers\, \nIt is our pleasure to welcome you to the 16th session of the national Model European Parliament in Vienna! \nIf it is true that a capital is the heart and soul of a state\, what could be a better place for the Austrian youth to come together than Vienna? Host to the United Nations and often referred to as “City of Music”\, the Austrian capital carries the cultural essence not only of an entire nation\, but also of the European spirit. \nYear after year dedicated\, intelligent and hard-working delegates from all corners of the country come together to address Austria’s most important political issues. This time\, it is you who have been chosen to represent your federal provinces. \nTo all first-time participants\, we encourage you not to be afraid to use your voice. Engage in fruitful debates\, be open to new ideas and aim to learn as much as possible from each other. The Opening Ceremony will be held in the House of the European Union\, the Committee Meetings of this year’s session will take place in the Theresianische Akademie Wien\, while the General Assembly will be held in the Old Town Hall. High rank Austrian EU representatives and EU representatives from Austria as well as former diplomats will brief you on the past\, the present and future of the European Union and Austria’s role in its midst. \nAlthough it is important that you take your role seriously\, don’t forget to also enjoy your time in Vienna as much as possible. A series of events\, such as team building or the famous “cultural evening” will allow you to make great friends for life. \nEspecially this year a considerable number of countries have experienced a shift back towards nationalism rather than internationalism. The presidential elections in Austria and the upcoming one in France also reveal the dissatisfaction of a growing part of the population. Europe is not alone in facing this challenge seeing the results of the recent presidential election in the United States. \nHowever\, those developments should not discourage us\, but should be the incentive to get involved now more than ever! The EU needs you – an interested\, engaged and active future generation with the willingness to do what it takes to ensure cooperation both with its member-states and the rest of the world. \nThere are numerous problems we need to tackle\, going from unemployment on to the refugee crisis and probably the most crucial one – climate change. \nIf you haven’t been informed already\, you will soon find out which committee you will be representing and we kindly ask you to conduct thorough research beforehand to be able to participate fully in the committee meetings and your task of writing a resolution. \nWe are really looking forward to meeting you all in January and don’t forget – this is your chance to make your voice heard\, but also to listen to those of others. \nYour Presidents\, \n\n\n\nEmma Heiling\n(Theresianische Akademie Wien)\n\n\nIoana-Laura Crisan\n(Theresianische Akademie Wien)\n\n\nMax Emil Heintschel\n(BG Klosterneuburg)\n\n\nMaximilian Knasar\n(Graz-IBS)\n\n\nAttila Kaplan\n(Theresianische Akademie Wien)\n\n\nEmil Nusser\n(Theresianische Akademie Wien)\n\n\n\nWelcome Note LH DrexlerMdEP Prof. Eugen FreundWelcome Note from MdEP Prof. Eugen Freund\nLiebe Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer des Model European Parliaments. – 29. 1. 2017\nDo 26. We\, the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs have the task of developing concrete plans of action to counter youth unemployment and to guarantee job security of young people in Europe. \nWe invite you to read and reflect on the issues mentioned above. How could the EU become a role-model for the rest of the world in the energy field? \nCommittee on Industry\, Energy and Research (ITRE) \nDear Delegates\, \nWe are honored to chair the Committee on Energy\, Industry and Research. \nOur complicated topic gets more and more important as the EU tries to stabilize their own economic area and gain more independence from imports. \nEven though the question might appear hard to solve\, we are confident that you will find access to the issue and avenues of thought that will lead to your own answers. \nWe look forward to working with you and trying to find sustainable solutions. \nSee you in Vienna! \n\n\n\nCP\nAlexander Bektimirov\n\n\nCoCP\nCharlotte  Illes\n\n\nCP Sec\nBo Gordon Leiter\n\n\nSMO\nKarolina Lexova\n\n\n\nTo help your preparation\, please read these articles: \nhttps://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2012/jun/19/renewable-energy-consumption-eu-targets \nhttp://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2015/06/economist-explains-1 \nThe two above articles explain the topic in a brief and informative way\, so we recommend you have a look at them. \nhttps://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/topics/energy-strategy \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/clima/citizens/eu_en \nhttps://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/topics/renewable-energy \nThese three links by the European Commission offer a good overview of the EU’s plans for the near future \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Energy_production_and_imports \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Renewable_energy_statistics \nTwo further links by the EU. However\, since it examines the topic very thoroughly\, we hope that you will find the time to look at it at least briefly. (Please focus on chapters 2 and 3\, as the economic aspect of renewable energy plays an undoubtedly big role in the discussion) \nThese Research recommendations should give you a decent understanding for the topic; however\, we hope that you will be able to complete some further research on your own until the session. \n4 Committee on Environment\, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI)\nThe question of juvenile health: \nShould the EU play a role in protecting juveniles from alcohol and drug abuse\, smoking and unhealthy eating habits? If so\, how should EU regulation relate to national regulation in this field? How can the member states of the EU cooperate to safeguard the health of young people against mental stress\, alcohol abuse\, smoking and poor levels of nutrients? Successful participation leads to being selected for the representation of Austria in the upcoming iMEP sessions in Budapest and Copenhagen and the euroregional sessions in Riga\, Kaliningrad and Sofia. \nUnleash your potential\, carpe diem. \nIf you have any further queries\, do not hesitate to contact us. See you soon! \nThe Presidents\, \nDarius Djawadi: darius.djawadi@icloud.com\nSaam Mahmoodian: 1998@saam.cc\nLorenz Obermann: obermann2@gmail.com\nSmaranda Vedrasco: smaranda.vedrasco@gmail.com \nOn Klosterneuburg: \nIn 1113 it became the residence of the Babenberg margrave Leopold III\, the later patron saint of Austria. In 1114 Leopold\, son-in-law of the Salian emperor Henry IV by his marriage with Agnes of Wailingen\, had a princely castle erected together with a collegiate church on a hill rising directly from the banks of the Danube\, which he transferred to Augustinian canons in 1133. This order is one of the oldest and richest of its kind in Austria; The monastery complex include the old chapel of 1318\, with Leopold’s tomb and the Verdun Altar\, dating from the 12th century\, the treasury and relic-chamber\, the library with 30\,000 volumes and numerous manuscripts\, the picture gallery\, the collection of coins\, the theological hall\, and the wine cellar. \nWhile the Danube was an important waterway trade route\, it also repeatedly affected the citizens by floods. The town was devastated by Ottoman forces both in the 1529 Siege of Vienna and the 1683 Battle of Vienna. In the 18th century Emperor Charles VI\, who could not prevail in the War of the Spanish Succession\, set up plans to rebuild the Klosterneuburg monastery complex modeled on the Escorial. The construction of the Baroque buildings began in 1730\, it did however did not survive an initial phase. After the Austrian defeat in the 1805 Battle of Austerlitz\, the town was occupied by Napoleonic troops until 1809. \nA winemaker‘s town during the 19th century\, Klosterneuburg developed to a recreational and residential area of Austrian officials working in the nearby capital. It is also the centre of a wine growing area\, with several esteemed vintners\, numerous Heuriger taverns\, and the Federal Institute for Viticulture and Pomology\, where the Zweigelt and Blauburger red wine grapes were bred by Fritz Zweigelt. \nThe town is tightly linked to the Austrian capital and houses some of the most affluent citizens of Lower Austria. It has direct public transport access to the Vienna city centre. The well-known Essl Museum of contemporary art and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) established in 2006 are located in the town. \nWelcome NotesDr. \nDr. Erwin Pröll \nUlrike LunacekWelcome Note from MdEP Mag. \nMag. Othmar KarasWelcome Note from MEP Mag. \nMag. Therefore\, this topic has been chosen for a Committee issue at the National MEP Session. Here\, you will have the opportunity to discuss\, debate\, cooperate\, and create a resolution on how our community of states should deal with this problem. \nEnclosed\, you will find a few links that might prove helpful to you during preparation. I would like to emphasize the need of being well prepared\, as it will greatly influence our work.  Without previously acquired knowledge of our issue\, you will not be able to actively participate in the committee meetings. However\, it is not necessary for you to learn any facts and figures by heart as\, upon being asked to do so by a member of the chairing team\, you may use your laptop for research during the committee meetings. \nYour preparation does not need to be limited to the links provided. Be encouraged to conduct research independently and\, most importantly\, form your own opinion and ideas on the issue. While doing this\, be sure to check the objectivity of your sources. Also\, remember to bear in mind the viewpoint of your own county while collecting ideas. \nMEP work is done at the assumption of an unlimited budget. Therefore\, you do not need to worry about costs while collecting ideas. \nWe expect a one-page summary about the issue given above\, which is to be sent to mep@emilnusser.com by 7th January 2016. \nAn introduction video: http://www.mepeurope.eu/model-european-parliament-norwich-2013/ \nAs your Committee President\, together with my Co CP and CP Sec I will be chairing our discussions and direct you towards drafting a resolution. We will show you how it is done but cannot monitor your content input. Therefore it is necessary for all of you to do some preparation using the links and tips provided below.  As you will all maybe be interested in representing Austria in the upcoming MEP sessions in Budapest\, Sofia and Copenhagen we will be evaluating and grading your performance in the committee as well as in the General Assembly. \nIn order to make things easier for you\, we have attached a couple of links which can help you with your research. You should inform yourself about current statistics\, problems\, causes and effects of youth unemployment and an aging society. \nThree things to keep in mind: \n\nThe MEP works under the assumption of an unlimited budget\, thus financial issues should not be taken into consideration.\nThe MEP attempts to remain politically independent as an institution. Hence\, political campaigns should not be part of your preparation.\nBear in mind that\, if you want to make arguments or claims\, you need proof and evidence. While researching you should not forget that some sources are more credible than others.\n\nLastly\, we are all very much looking forward to meeting and working with you in January! \nKind regards and best wishes\, \nYour chairing team \nLaetitia Reinthaller (CP)\, Emma Heiling (Co CP)\, Emil Nusser (CP Sec) \nLivian Enachescu (CIE)\, Larissa Baku (SMO) \n\nLinks\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvOnXh3NN9w\nhttp://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34131911\nhttp://www.unicef.org/emergencies/index_85510.html\nhttps://www.hrw.org/report/2015/11/16/europes-refugee-crisis/agenda-action\nhttps://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22730383-800-why-welcoming-more-refugees-makes-economic-sense-for-europe/\nhttp://ec.europa.eu/echo/refugee-crisis_en\nhttp://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2013:180:0031:0059:EN:PDF\nhttp://ceciliawikstrom.eu/en/politics/migration-and-asylum/the-dublin-iii-regulation/\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umqvYhb3wf4\n2015 UNHCR subregional operations profile – Northern\, Western\, Central and Southern Europe\nEuropean Union predicts 3 million more migrants by end of next year (Washington Post\, 5/11/2015)\nCommon asylum system at a turning point: Refugees caught in Europe’s solidarity crisis \n2 Committee on Employment and Social Affairs\nHow should Europe cope with an ageing society and its consequent effects on the labour market? Hence\, political campaigns should not be part of your preparation.\nBear in mind that\, if you want to make arguments or claims\, you need proof and evidence. While researching you should not forget that some sources are more credible than others.\n\nI would like to ask all of you to send me a summary of the research you have made\, including two ways to solve the Committee Issue (about 350 words) by Friday\, January 15th. I strongly advise you to take preparation seriously. Also\, if you have any further questions about the MEP or preparation\, feel free to contact me or the other members of the committee chairing team. In case you have any questions regarding the issue itself\, I would suggest contacting our CIE (Committee Issue Expert) Thomas Sun. The whole team is very much looking forward to meeting you in January.\nKind regards and best wishes\, Your Committee Chairing Team. \nCommittee President\, Jakob Dunshirn (jakob.dunshirn@gmail.com) \nCo. To what extent should the EU and Member States take more action in order to unlock the full potential of Europe’s female labour force? \nDistinguished delegates of the Committee on Women´s Rights and Gender Equality\, \nLet us first congratulate you on being chosen to represent your federal state in the national MEP session in January 2016. My name is Catherina Schwaiger and I will be your Committee President during the National MEP session in Klosterneuburg. \nIt will be the task of Emilie Berger (Co CP) Maximilian Knaser (CP Sec.) and me to chair the Committee Meetings and to help you drafting the resolution. In addition\, two CIEs (Committee Issue Experts) (Natalie Komissarova\, Antonia Frey) who will provide background information on our topic\, will support you. \nA short overview on the procedure of the Model European Parliament for all of you who have never taken part in an MEP session: (see also http://www.mepeurope.eu/model-european-parliament-norwich-2013/) \nDuring the Committee Meetings\, we are going to work on the so-called introductive clauses (IC´s) and the operative clauses (OC´s). By formulating IC´s\, we will outline and point out the actual problems of our topic. Afterwards\, we will have to set up an approach to solving these problems in terms of writing down OC´s. Since the OC´s can be considered as the most important part of the resolution and the overall time available for the Committee Meetings is little\, we should not spend too much time on the IC´s. I therefore advise you all to prepare and to sum up the problems of our topic in advance in order to proceed quickly and more effectively. After having finished the resolution itself\, we will choose members of the committee to deliver several speeches in the General Assembly\, such as the opening speech\, the speech against the amendment and the speech in favour of the resolution. But you will certainly get familiar with how the Model European Parliament works very soon. \nAt this point we would like to draw your attention to the importance of the preparation work\, which can be considered as the foundation of our meetings.Without any previous knowledge\, you will not be able to actively take part in the discussions. Therefore\, we would like you to write a summary on our topic by January 10th and send it to us via email. Included should be a description of the current situation for women as well as possible solutions for occurring issues. Also\, try to answer the given question of our committee. (see below) Please take this work seriously\, since it will also have an impact on your evaluations. The more prepared you are\, the more likely it is to fulfil our expectations. We want you to have a broad knowledge of the topic\, as well as to participate in the discussions and do the given homework\, thus achieving a solid resolution. \nAs your Committee President\, together with my Co CP and CP Sec I will be chairing our discussions and direct you towards drafting a resolution. What measures can be taken to reduce the impact of cyber-bullying\, Internet grooming and unregulated social networking sites on the life of young people without violating the right to free speech and freedom of information? \nHonorable Delegates\, \nMy name is Ioana Laura Crisan and I will be your Committee President in the National MEP session 2016! I am eagerly looking forward to meeting all of you! \nThe majority of you will be new to the Model European Parliament\, but please do not worry: Most delegates have no previous experience and you are here to learn together. You will meet amazing people from all around Austria and create bonds that will truly last. While the MEP is about working hard\, do not forget to enjoy your experience\, as it is a thrilling one! \nThis research module will contain a brief summary of the information you will need\, if you want to succeed in the MEP. It is crucial for you to be well prepared and to know your topic extremely well. At the end of the session\, we will grade you according to your participation during the debates and assembly meeting. Without preparation\, you will simply not be able to attend and contribute to the discussion. To make sure that you gain all the necessary knowledge\, you will be expected to send me summaries and other essays by the deadlines that we have set. All preparation work is listed below. \nA bit of advice: \nIt is vital that you have a good grasp of the topic of our committee. During debates\, my colleagues and I will only be able to guide your discussion and interfere when we think that the information you have included is wrong/outdated. It will be up to YOU and your fellow delegates to draft the resolution and to make sure that it answers the question. \nAnother important thing is that you know what terms and expressions like Committee President\, Resolution\, General Assembly etc. mean\, so that we can be as efficient as possible.  You will hear these words frequently over the following period of time\, so you need to know what they mean. You can find all this information on the home page of the MEP. (www.mepeurope.eu – education) You might find it helpful to make some sort of vocab list. Do what works best for you. \nThe language of the MEP is ENGLISH. You can speak whatever language you’d like in our free time\, but during debates you have to speak English. \nNow you must understand the principle of MEP. You will be writing a resolution for the EU/Austria. This does not mean that you shouldn’t research information about other countries as well. It is important that you see this problem from different perspective. Many other states (f.e. the USA) are the origin of various sites that Europeans use. The problem with Internet safety is quite a delicate one and affects the entire world. However\, you must be careful when formulation the resolution\, the regulations you want to impose should mostly concern the EU. \nMONEY IS NOT A PROBLEM. Delegates often forget this crucial rule of the MEP. They’ll start asking money related questions in the General Assembly. The idea of MEP is that you have unlimited access to money. So you don’t have to worry about how something will be funded. \nAs your Committee President\, together with my Co CP and CP Sec I will be chairing our discussions and direct you towards drafting a resolution. Hence\, political campaigns should not be part of your preparation.\nBear in mind that\, if you want to make arguments or claims\, you need proof and evidence. While researching you should not forget that some sources are more credible than others.\n\nLastly\, you must always remember that YOU have to form YOUR OWN OPINION. The links and articles we have sent you are only supposed to make you understand all that your topic is about. They are not there to impose on you anything. Also\, these links only represent a part of the information you need. SUMMARY:nMEP Vorarlberg 2015
DESCRIPTION:Letter from the presidentsHonourable Delegates\,\nvenerable Committee Presidents and\ndistinguished Student Media Officers\, \nIt is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 14th national session of the Model European Parliament. We feel honoured to be hosting this session in Vorarlberg from \n22nd to 25th January 2015. \nThis session will be a unique opportunity for you to make your voice heard\, to be a representative of your province\, to discuss political questions that affect millions of people throughout the European Union and the chance to learn something about yourselves. We don’t know what this “something” will be: You may discover that you are good at negotiating or working in teams. You may also learn how to find a compromise with people you don’t share the same opinion with. Maybe you will find out that there is no more exciting moment than holding a speech in a hall full of attentive listeners? Maybe you’ll decide that you would like to dedicate your life to working towards a brighter and better future for the EU? We don’t know. What we do know is that if you truly open your heart and mind to this unforgettable experience\, you will make this weekend and this session will in return change the very way you look at the world. Believe in yourself\, work even harder and make friendships for years to come. \nBregenz and Dornbirn are our two capitals\, one is home toVorarlberg’s administration and government with its impressive art and culture events on Lake Constance the other is our commercial and industrial centre\, and the\nmost populated city in Vorarlberg situated in the Rhein valley. To get you better acquainted with Vorarlberg and its landmark cities we have prepared a programme featuring the town halls ofBregenz and Dornbirn and our province parliament\, das Landhaus where the GA will be held. \nWe have invited interesting speakers from different tiers of public life: the Speaker of the Vorarlberg Landtag Mag. Sonderegger\, former EU parliamentarian Mag. Herbert Bösch\, DI Markus Linhart\, Town Mayor of Bregenz and Dipl.-Vw. Andrea Kaufmann Town Mayor of Dornbirn\, and Dr. Wolfgang Wolte\, ambassador to Brussels leading up to Austria’s accession to the European Union twenty years ago. The committee meetings will be held at the two participating schools: BG Bregenz /Blumenstraße and the BORG Schoren-Dornbirn. You will experience how the decision – making process of the European Parliament works. We will have team building activities so you can get to know each other better before we will all come together to enjoy “Käsknöpfle” at the famous “Gasthaus Pfänderdohle”. \nKeep one very important thing in mind: the essential part of the Model European Parliament is you\, the participant. You will meet like-minded ordifferent- minded youngsters from all over Austria and work together on a resolution trying to find common ground on sensitive issues in your committees. Your success will rely on your teamwork trying to pass your resolution in the General Assembly. We wish you good luck. How successful this weekend is for you personally will depend on you. Active participation might involve things you have never done before\, so you should be willing to put an effort into your preparation first.\nBe confident and you will see that there is nothing to stopyou. We are really looking forward to an interesting\nand productive session. You do not have to learn these by heart\, the links provided by us are here to make the preparation work easier for you\, but you are free to use other sources of information as well. \nKnowledge of the key terms\, organisations\, projects and initiatives of the EU concerning higher education are expected of you\, in order to enable efficient committee work and interesting discussions with input from all delegates. Please bear in mind that it is significant to know what exactly the European Union is capable or not capable of to change in the sector of education. \nWe have also enclosed several informative articles and statistics for you to use for preparation\, during the committee work and in the General Assembly. Please try to avoid political campaigns about education\, as the MEP is a politically free institution\, and always try to stay objectivewith your approach to the topic. \nMoreover\, MEP work is done at the assumption of an unlimited budget\, therefore you must not worry about costs while preparing and collecting ideas. \nIf you have any questions\, do not hesitate to contact us. How can their role be strengthened in developing and implementing social\, environmental and youth empowerment policies which will contribute to achieving the objectives of the EU 2020 strategy; and how can cities with innovative ideas and concepts be supported in the field of urban development. \nCommittee on Regional Development\n“The question of the role of cities and urban areas in managing cohesion policy funds in meeting the objectives of Europe 2020” \nDear delegates\, \nYou are probably well aware of the fact that the National MEP Session in Bregenz is only a month away. This means that every one of you needs to start preparing soon\, in order for everyone to be able to contribute in equal parts to the resolution on Regional Development. \nMany of you have probably never participated at a MEP Session before and are perhaps a bit in the dark. Your goal will be the write the best possible resolution on the given question. This means that you will have to bring up as many arguments and solutions for problems as possible\, argue with your colleagues and finally find the right phrasing for your ideas. In the General Assembly you will present your resolution to the other committees and defend it against critics. \nNaturally\, the best way to avoid too much criticism is to have a well thought-through resolution. To achieve this goal you need excellent preparation and active reflection on the topic which is the following: \nSince more than two-thirds of European citizens live in cities\, urban areas can play a leading role in intelligent growth. How can their role be strengthened in developing and implementing social\, environmental and youth empowerment policies which will contribute to achieving the objectives of the EU 2020 strategy; and how can cities with innovative ideas and concepts be supported in the field of urban development? \nWe have put together several links that should serve as a good basis for discussion. We would still encourage you to dig deeper and do some research on your own. \nWe are looking forward to an interesting and productive MEP Session in Bregenz with you! \n\n\n\nSmaranda Vedrasco\nThomas Sun\nLorenz Obermann\n\n\n(CP)\n(CP Sec)\n(SMO)\n\n\n\n\nLinks: \nhttps://www.bka.gv.at/site/4890/default.aspx \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/employment_and_social_policy/eu2020/em0028_en.htm \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/employment_and_social_policy/eu2020/em0041_en.htm \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/employment_and_social_policy/eu2020/em0042_en.htm \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/employment_and_social_policy/eu2020/index_en.htm \nhttp://depts.washington.edu/hhwb/Thm_Mental.html \nhttp://www.openeducation.net/2009/06/05/growing-up-urban-environmental-impact-on-intellectual-capacity/ \nhttp://dusp.mit.edu/epp/news/how-can-cities-ensure-social-equity-while-promoting-new-development-same-time \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/thefunds/regional/index_en.cfm \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/employment_and_social_policy/job_creation_measures/l60015_en.htm \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/videos/index.cfm?LAN=EN \nhttp://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/agriculture/general_framework/g24234_en.htm \nhttps://www.gov.uk/browse/business/funding-debt/european-regional-development-funding \nhttp://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/activity/urban/index_en.cfm \nMedia\nORF Vorarlberg\nJugendparlament diskutiert auf Englisch \n\n\nORF TVThek\nFernsehbericht über die MEP Session \n\n\nvol.at\nJugendparlament im Landtag: “Jugendliche haben Wert der Demokratie erkannt” \n\nLivestream vom MEP: Jugendparlament tagt im Plenarsaal des Vorarlberger Landtags\nDownloads\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n nMEP Vorarlberg 2015 - Grußwort Landeshauptmann von Vorarlberg | 82.54 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n nMEP Vorarlberg 2015 - Grußwort des Präsidenten des Vorarlberger Landtages | 77.38 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n nMEP Vorarlberg 2015 - Grußwort des Bürgermeisters von Bregenz | 80.17 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n nMEP Vorarlberg 2015 - Grußwort der Frau Bürgermeisterin von Dornbirn | 82.29 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n nMEP Vorarlberg 2015 Welcome Note Presidency | 93.85 KB\n \n Download

SUMMARY:nMEP Salzburg 2014
DESCRIPTION:Letter from the presidentsHonourable Delegates\,\nvenerable Committee Presidents and\ndistinguished Student Media Officers\,\n \nIt is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 13th national session of the Model European Parliament. We are delighted to be hosting this session in Salzburg from 23rd to 26thJanuary. \nSalzburg is a great place for an MEP session: It has always been a cultural centre. Being known as the city of Mozart it attracts tourists\, famous artists and guests from all over the world. There are many reasons to come: Sound of Music\, skiing\, the picturesque city centre\, the ‘Salzburger Festspiele’ in summer\, Pfingst-and Osterfestspiele and\, just when you will be here\, the Salzburger Mozartwoche\, the celebration of Mozart’s 258th birthday! A visit to Salzburg would not be complete without some music; therefore we will be seeing a performance on Saturday evening. \nWe have prepared a packed programme at Salzburg’s most interesting venues\, ‘Altes Rathaus’ and the assembly hall of the federal government at Chiemseehof. The culinary and cultural highlights will be our visit to a traditional ‘Wirtshaus’ and the famous Balkangrill where Bosna was invented. The committee meetings will be held at the two participating schools\, the Bundesgymnasium Nonntal and the Akademisches Gymnasium Salzburg. \nHowever\, the most important part of the MEP is you\, the participants. You will meet intelligent and like-minded students representing their federal state\, you will work on current topics and you will discuss different opinions and suggestions before agreeing on resolutions that will be presented in the General Assembly on Sunday. You will have the opportunity to build friendships and make contacts with people from all over Austria that can last the rest of your lives. \nHow successful the weekend is for you also depends on how much effort you are willing to put into it. Do not hesitate to try new things\, prepare your topic and voice your opinion. Participating actively might involve things that you have never done before\, like holding a speech in front of many people in English or answering a question without having much time to prepare. This can be intimidating but the MEP is a chance to try what you have never done before and find out skills that you were not aware of before. Be confident and you will notice that you can take an active part in shaping the results of this weekend’s discussion. You will experience first-hand how the decision-making process of the ‘real’ European Parliament works. \nIn May 2014 this ‘real’ European Parliament will be elected and as the minimum age to cast your vote is 16 in Austria (the only country in the EU) most of you will have the opportunity to vote and decide Europe’s future. \nTherefore we have invited Dr. Paul Rübig\, an Austrian Member of the European Parliament and Dr. Wolfgang Wolte\, former Austrian ambassador to Brussels and Peking as well as influential people from Salzburg to give us their views on the European Union. \nWe are looking forward to an interesting and productive session and a lot of fun. If you have any questions your Committee Presidents and we are happy to help. \nYour presidents\, \nMengfan Böhm (Bundesgymnasium Salzburg-Nonntal)\, Alexander Brenn\, Lukas Joura and Sebastian Saxinger(Theresianische Akademie Wien)\, Hannah Niese (Akademisches Gymn. Salzburg ’13\, King’s College London/LSE) \nWelcome NotesGrußwort von Dr. Paul Rübig\nLiebe Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer des 13. Model European Parliaments! Wilfried Haslauer\nLandeshauptmann Bundesland Salzburg \nProgrammeDo 23.
